Development of the All Student Center
The Department of Facilities is dedicated to providing clean, safe, and quality facilities that promote successful teaching and learning. There are clear links between student achievement and building quality and DJUSD is exploring newer or modernized buildings, with improved lighting, thermal comfort, acoustics, and indoor air quality.
DJUSD is involved in a 3-year effort to provide much needed repairs and upgrades to campuses across the district. This spring and summer you will see maintenance and improvement projects going on at all campuses. Specifically, heavy construction will occur as new buildings go up at North Davis and Montgomery Elementary Schools and as some athletic facilities on secondary campuses get important upgrades. Summer also marks the ground breaking for the construction of the All Student Center (ASC) at Davis Senior High School. These projects are just some of the many efforts that are possible because of $25 million of capital financing from our local facilities funds for deferred maintenance and necessary capital improvements in our school district.
The Facilities Department is responsible for the planning and construction of improvements to the existing school facilities, the acquisition of school property, approval of eligibility for new schools, planning of the new school facilities, and, ultimately, the construction of these facilities. The Department of Facilities oversees applications for state funding and monitors funding sources. The department also performs the functions related to facility use, facility rental and safety.

Maintenance and Operations Overview
The Maintenance & Operations Department provides maintenance, grounds keeping, custodial and field services at district locations to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. The department provides maintenance of all district buildings, systems and related equipment. This includes not only routine maintenance, but also preventative and deferred maintenance services to maximize the useful life of district facilities. The department maintains all district grounds and athletic fields. The custodial staff provides housekeeping and support services at all district locations. Central receiving, mail distribution and document reproduction are also provided within the department. Additional areas of support include vehicle and equipment maintenance, surplus equipment disposal, Integrated Pest Management and purchasing.
