Junior High Schools to Start Later in 2016-17

The DJUSD is committed to our mission of creating optimal conditions and environments for all students to learn. In alignment with our mission the DJUSD Board of Trustees instructed the Superintendent to adjust secondary school start times to at or about 8:30, while continuing to promote the education of parents, students, staff and the community regarding the importance of sleep for teens and the factors that affect the quality and duration of teenage sleep.

All Junior High Schools will start the 2016-17 school year at 8:30, retain the 7 period schedule format from prior years and end at 3:30. A special co-enrollment period will allow students to co-enroll between Junior High schools to attend classes that may not be offered at their site. Check out the Junior High School schedules for Harper, Holmes and Emerson - Da Vinci.

Comprehensive senior high school campuses (DVHS and DSHS) will continue working to start senior high schools at or about 8:30 AM and ending at or about 3:30 PM for the 2017-18 school year.

DJUSD staff has created this website to educate staff, students, parents and community members about our progress toward these goals.
