General Information for Prospective Substitute Teachers
The Davis Joint Unified School District is not seeking substitute teachers at this time.
Thank you for your interest in substituting for our school district. We look forward to working with you. We seek every opportunity to obtain and maintain a list of highly qualified substitute teachers.
In order to create and maintain a pool of substitutes that is cost effective, we expect a commitment from you to be available at least 3 days per week. If you are unable to work this many days, we will not be able to accept your application at this time. However, if you don't receive calls due to lack of available work, it will not count against you.
In additions, we require current information from you. If there is a change in your address, phone number or availability (i.e. you are student teaching, out of town, or otherwise unable to substitute teach for a period of time) please let us know immediately by calling 530-757-5300 ext 182.
The District monitors the continued quality of our substitutes. We receive positive feedback on the majority of our substitutes, however, should the district receive negative reports from individual teachers or administrators regarding the caliber of your work, you will be notified. If the problem persists, you will be removed from our substitutes list.
The pay for substitute teachers is as follows:
$95/day if you hold a 30-Day Emergency Substitute Permit
$100/day if you hold a 30-Day Emergency Substitute Permit and complete the substitute training offered by Yolo County Office of Education.

$112/day if you hold a Ca Teaching credential and complete the substitute training offered by Yolo County Office of Education.

After 10 consecutive days, in the same classroom, a $10/day increase in pay.
After 20 consecutive days, placed on certificated salary schedule retro to the first day in that classroom.
The following documents are required to be a substitute within the Davis Joint Unified School District:
- Complete application packet
- Resume
- Current TB test (within the last 60 days)
- CBEST verification
- Copies of official transcripts showing graduation date
- Copy of credential certificate (if not credentialed, please submit resume outlining applicable teaching experience)
- $44 processing fee for fingerprinting
- Medical release for first time employment in California school district
