Coach – Head Boys Varsity Lacrosse – Davis Senior High School, February 2011 – June 2011, $2,957.00/season.

Requires:  Valid CPR and First Aid Card and knowledge of sport.  CIF Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.  Two years experience as JV Head Coach or minimum two years experience as Varsity Assistant Coach or Head Coach preferred.

All teacher positions require:  Appropriate certification with CLAD or BCLAD or equivalent.  Must be able to meet highly qualified criteria under NCLB act.

Elementary:

Definition

 

Math specialist will provide support to classroom teachers in grades 4 – 6 to prepare students for success in mathematics including completion of Algebra I and beyond.  Specialist will report to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and will work collaboratively with the site principals.  Assignments will be based on student achievement data at the school sites. 

 

Candidates interested in applying for the position should have the recommendation of their current site administer and staff development training.  Funding for this position is flows from a local parcel tax so candidates should consider this a four-year commitment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Provide demonstration lessons and coaching for classroom teachers

·         Plan professional development activities for teachers which include, strategies that aim for 100% engagement & error analysis to guide instructional strategies

·         Error Analysis to guide instructional strategies

·         Develop a bank of assessments and benchmarks to monitor student achievement

·         Provide focused staff development for individuals and teams of teachers

·         Knowledge of best practices and successful instructional materials

·         Provide support during pilot process for new adoptions (08-09)

·         Flexible Hours (2 – 3 evenings monthly)

·         Provide training and technical assistance to school staffs in the area of interpretation of results, analysis, and performance improvement in the area of mathematics

·         Respond knowledgeably to staff and community inquiries regarding the District Mathematics Program

·         Works with Educational Services team to update assessment and evaluation tools to measure district achievement objectives in Mathematics

·         Provide effective staff development in the area of Mathematics

·         Work with Principals and Leadership Team to monitor the implementation of the district mathematics standards, benchmarks, and formative assessment for improving student achievement

·         Provide staff development and coaching in effective elementary instruction.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Knowledge and Skills:  Must have the skills to communicate with individuals from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds; to direct and support administrative, instructional and support personnel; embrace an instructional philosophy that is in concert with the district core academic instructional program; demonstrated understanding of currently accepted and research-based pedagogy in instructional strategies for both adults and children; demonstrated ability to direct and facilitate adult learners and have experience in developing and presenting professional staff development; a practical knowledge of a variety of assessment and evaluation instruments and their appropriate implementation; and, the ability to interpret and present data form a variety of sources.


 

Abilities:  Use data analysis tools and statistical software; provide interpretation of analysis to support programmatic decisions; work successfully with administrators, teachers, students, and parents; provide coherent demonstration lessons that reflect best practices in curriculum, instruction and include pre and post opportunities for discussion and assist staff in providing this same level of instruction; and, provide staff development, which fosters sustained instructional improvement through professional staff development.

 

Physical Ability:  With or without the use of aids, requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize letters, words and numbers, to read printed materials; sufficient arm, hand finger, and/eye coordination and manual dexterity to write, and operate a personal computer keyboard, typewriter, and other office equipment: ability to hear and understand in person and on the telephone; sufficient body movement and mobility to drive and automobile, when required.

 

Education and Experience:  Successful experience as a classroom teacher as well as demonstrable experience in the area of mathematics, that includes K-12 mathematics program administration.  Must meet the Highly Qualified requirements for the No Child Left Behind Act in the area of mathematics or introductory mathematics.

 

Licenses and Certificates:  TB Test clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance, and valid Driver’s license and evidence of insurability.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAVIS JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT - CLASSROOM TEACHER

 

DEFINITION

 

Under direction, to plan, carry out and evaluate instructional activities, as appropriate, for students in a subject, group of subjects, or grade.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 1.     Assumes responsibility for the care, discipline and instruction of pupils and for all pupils of the school outside of class hours as assigned.

 

  1. Teaches in accordance with the abilities and achievements of the pupils assigned in his or her    classes, and in conformance with the district philosophy, goals and objectives as expressed in the Board’s adopted courses of study.

 

  1. Enforces all rules governing the conduct of pupils, which may be prescribed by law, by the Board, the superintendent, or the principal.

 

  1. Maintains hygienic conditions and practices in the classroom as they may affect the health of the pupils and shall report promptly to the principal any accident or illness.

 

  1. Uses the grading system or other means of reporting pupil progress and evaluating pupil achievement that has been prescribed or approved, reports to the parents, either by personal interview or written form, as directed.

 

  1. Participates in the preparation and execution of the teacher evaluation agreement as adopted by the Board.

 

  1. Acts and speaks with the highest ethical standards of the profession in her relationships with parents, pupils and colleagues.

 

  1. Endeavors to grow professionally through knowing pupils, parents, and community.

 

  1. Cooperates in in-service education committee work, and utilizes supervisory and auxiliary services provided by the school district and the community.

 

  1. Endeavors to keep informed concerning new developments in the field of education and particularly in her specific field.

 

  1. Requisitions, cares for, and protects school property and uses efficiently school supplies and equipment.

 

  1. Keeps the principal informed concerning matters affecting school policies and the educational program.

 

  1. Attends regularly meetings called or authorized by the principal or superintendent.

 

  1. Keeps all records requested for educational inventory, and business accounting, and follows established attendance procedures regarding pupil absences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Credential:  Valid California Teaching Credential authorizing service for the assigned subject(s) and/or class.

 

  1. Education:  Bachelor’s degree, including all courses needed to meet the credential requirements.

 

  1. Experience:  Practice teaching and/or necessary teaching experience to meet credential requirements.

 

 

  1. Personal Qualities:  Appearance, grooming, and personality which establish a desirable example for pupils.  Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health.  Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher.
