Kindergarten Registration

All elementary schools in the Davis Joint Unified School District will conduct an annual spring kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 29, 2012, for children within the district who will reach their fifth birthday on or before November 1, 2012. Please go here for information on Transitional Kindergarten.

Parents/guardians of children eligible for fall 2012 enrollment should register their children at their neighborhood school. between the hours of 8:30am to 3:00pm (except Birch Lane which is from 12:00 - 6:00 pm). When registering a child for kindergarten, parents should bring the following required documents:

• Legal verification of the child’s date of birth (Certified Birth Certificate/Passport)
  
• Immunization records
• Proof of residence (PG&E bill, lease agreement/escrow papers in parent/guardian name)
• Parent/Guardian identification (e.g., CA driver’s license, passport)

Immunizations against certain childhood diseases are legal registration requirements. The law allows:
(a) parents/guardians to choose exemptions from immunization requirements based on their personal beliefs, and/or:
(b) medical exemptions indicated by child’s physician. More information can be found at:

A physical examination within six (6) months of kindergarten start date is also a requirement.

*SPANISH IMMERSION PROGRAM: registration will be held at César Chávez and Marguerite Montgomery Elementary Schools. Please make sure you register your child at the school you want him/her to attend. On Wednesday, March 28, 2012, from 8:30am to 3:00pm, registration will be held at each site for students entering kindergarten who have siblings already enrolled in the Spanish Immersion program, and for students who are native Spanish speakers only. Thursday, March 29, 2012, registration starts for all other students who want to enroll in the program at either site.

*BIRCH ELEMENTARY REGULAR AND MONTESSORI PROGRAM:  kindergarten registration will take place on Thursday, March 29th, between 12:00 and 6:00 pm. Montessori students entering 1st-6th may be registered on March 30th.

*FAIRFIELD SCHOOL: To apply for Fairfield School, please visit the Patwin school office, register your child for kindergarten, and fill out a Fairfield application form. Students will be selected using a lottery system and then notified. All other students will be placed on a waiting list and notified.
