Online Teaching Skills Development
Many district teachers have inquired about what it takes to become qualified to teach online classes. While there is no defined credential, per se, required to teach online, there is a particular skill set that characterizes a teacher who can use online tools effectively to present content. As we become aware of quality programs for growing these skills, we will list them here. As with all professional development coursework you may undertake, please contact Human Resources for information on procedures for documenting college credit for salary column movement at 757-5300 ext. 106, or by email.
For those in a bit more of a hurry, CCCC writes: Cerro Coso's Certificate in Online Teaching offers a unique opportunity
to learn about online teaching in a practical, hands-on environment. This
program is specifically designed to assist faculty in the development and
implementation of best practices in online course delivery. Participants are
introduced to a wide variety of instructional technologies using current
educational research as a foundation. The entire certificate can be
completed in a little over a typical semester.
