Emerson Teacher Receives Exciting Grant Opportunity!

Last spring, Jennifer Wolfe, an English and AVID teacher at Emerson Junior High applied for and received a grant for the 2011-2012 school year to participate in the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program which is sponsored by the US Department of State and the International Research and Exchange Board.

As part of this opportunity, she will participate in an online course geared for US teachers who are teaching their students to become world citizens and have a global as well as local perspective.

She will attend two Global Education Symposiums in Washington D.C. during the current school year and will be able to visit one of the following countries (Brazil, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco or Ukraine) during the summer to complete her grant education.

Jennifer will be utilizing what she learns to support global awareness in her classroom and on our school site.  This already fits with her approach as she is involved with a Sister School program in Nicaragua and has partnered with them and our Spanish Immersion teachers in the past to provide multicultural educational opportunities for our students.

Congratulations Jennifer!
