Superintendent Announces Closure of Schools for Academic Year; Instruction Continues through Distance Learning
During the Board of Education Meeting tonight (April 2), in an effort to continue to support the collective efforts of our region and state to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of students, staff, families, and our community, Superintendent Bowes announced his decision to close all DJUSD schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic school year. Instruction will continue through a Distance Learning Program.

“This decision is not made lightly, and has been made in consultation with the Yolo County Office of Education, other superintendents in Yolo County, our Yolo County Public Health Officer, and our Board of Education.”

This announcement means:

  • DJUSD students and staff will not be returning to school campuses this school year, AND
  • A clear Distance Learning Program, which you will hear more about tonight, will begin on April 13 and be our model for school instruction until the end of this academic year on June 11.

Please look for a message from Superintendent Bowes tomorrow, April 3, 2020, with additional information and updates about the DJUSD Distance Learning Program.
