DJUSD Invites Community to School Boundary Community Outreach Series
Posted on 10/16/2025

Our District is facing significant enrollment challenges that will shape the future of our schools. For more than a decade, resident student enrollment has steadily declined due to factors such as lower birth rates and housing affordability in Davis. In past years, interdistrict transfers helped mitigate for that decline, but those applications have started to slow. And last year’s unexpected drop in kindergarten enrollment accelerated the trend even further.

This has placed added pressure on our schools and our funding.

With long-term decisions anticipated in spring of 2027 for implementation in the 2028–29 school year, DJUSD is beginning conversations now to ensure students, staff, families and community members are informed and have the opportunity to provide input on the path ahead.

As part of this work, the District is hosting a series of three community workshops this November. These sessions will share detailed information about declining enrollment and two possible concepts for addressing the worst-case scenario of a 1,000-student decline in the next decade . They also provide a forum for all members of our community to share ideas and feedback to help shape the future of DJUSD schools.

Community Workshop Opportunities
Each workshop will follow the same format and presentation, so you only need to attend one:
