Junior High Info for Current Sixth Graders

*The following letter is being shared with all sixth grade families via email and mailed hard copy*

DJUSD is planning for the 2026–27 school year and that includes the transition to seventh grade for our current sixth grade students. Please review the important information below.


Junior High Enrollment
All 6th graders are automatically enrolled in their feeder junior high school:

• Patwin, Willett, and Chávez students→Emerson Junior High School
  
• North Davis and Birch Lane students→Holmes Junior High School
  
• Montgomery, Korematsu, and Pioneer students→Harper Junior High School
  

Transfer Requests and Special Programs
To attend a junior high other than your feeder school, complete the Intra-District Transfer form and email it to [email protected] or drop it off at the District Office. 

Davis School for Independent Study (DSIS): Visit the DSIS website for registration details on the Virtual Academy, Homeschool, and Hybrid Programs. (An intra-district transfer form will be needed.)

Da Vinci Junior High School: Apply directly through the Da Vinci Charter Academy website. (No Intra-District Transfer application needed.)  

AIM: AIM-identified students currently enrolled in a 6th grade AIM cluster class at Pioneer will be enrolled in AIM cluster classes at Harper Junior High School. AIM-identified students currently enrolled in a 6th grade AIM cluster class at Willett will be enrolled in AIM cluster classes at Holmes Junior High School. AIM-identified students not currently enrolled in AIM cluster classes will be placed in AIM cluster classes at their feeder junior high school dependent upon space, unless the parent/guardian requests otherwise.

Course Request Sheets
In the coming weeks, junior high counselors will visit elementary sites and students will bring home course planning sheets. Please complete the course request sheets for your child’s feeder school and return them to their 6th grade teacher by the date specified in the chart below.

• Complete your feeder school’s form even if you are applying for a transfer.
  
• If a transfer is approved, the new school will send you their course request sheet to complete and return.
  
• If not approved, your student will remain on a waiting list, reviewed through spring and summer. Families will be notified by email if space becomes available.

Immunization Requirements
Before entering 7th grade, all students must have:

• 1 Tdap booster (given on or after the 7th birthday)
  A total of 2 Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines
  
• Find additional details on the 7th Grade Vaccine Notice under “Immunizations” on our Health Services website.
