Superintendent Bowes to Begin at Manhattan Beach USD
Posted on 06/29/2021
Superintendent BowesDear DJUSD Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I am sharing this message. Yesterday, at a Special Meeting, I informed our Board of Education that I have accepted a position as Superintendent of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District and will be leaving DJUSD on August 6, 2021. It has always been a goal of mine to return to southern California in order to be closer to family, and Manhattan Beach is another wonderful community I have the good fortune to join.

The DJUSD Board intends to appoint Deputy Superintendent Matt Best as Interim Superintendent while the District formally conducts a robust nationwide search over the next few months. This process will involve input from key constituencies throughout the Davis community, including staff, parents, students and other stakeholders. Please look for more information and direct communication from the District in the coming weeks.

I am confident Deputy Superintendent Best will continue the great work already underway in DJUSD and ensure a smooth transition between Superintendents. Serving as your Superintendent has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I am proud of the successes our District has achieved over the past five years. I look forward to following many more successes in the coming years.

Sincerely,

John Bowes, Ed.D.
Superintendent
