The Housing-Schools Connection
Posted on 04/01/2025
Superintendent BestDJUSD has been experiencing declining enrollment for two decades and is now at a critical juncture for decision-making. Without new housing development, DJUSD is forecasted to drop another 1000 students in 10 years and will need a significant restructure; this will include school closure(s), consolidation(s), boundary rebalancing and/or school model adjustment(s).

Schools must become part of the local housing discussion. To that end, Superintendent Best is leading an educational outreach effort to provide information on DJUSD’s declining enrollment and details of how new housing development projects, if approved by voters, will impact boundaries and mitigate the drop in students. Unless something changes, we will see the steady erosion of our Davis schools. To learn more, please visit our website.
