Fencing Projects in DJUSD

As part of the Bond Program funding, the Davis Board of Education has prioritized a total of $3 million for fencing projects across DJUSD school sites. The goal of these projects is to improve safety and access control, by deterring pedestrian traffic across school grounds during school hours and limiting the number of entry points to campus.

At the DJUSD Board of Education meeting on 9/5/2024, the Board approved the conceptual fencing plans for Willett and North Davis elementary schools.

Though originally slated for Phase One, the Davis Senior High School fencing project will be revisited at a later date, as construction on the Aquatic Center is nearing completion. This will allow the District to better understand the impact of the new facilities on the flow of pedestrian traffic at DSHS. You can view the original presentation here.

Construction began in June 2025 and was completed in August 2025.

DJUSD is excited to announce the completion of Phase Two of fencing projects, which includes implementation at Korematsu, Montgomery and Pioneer elementary schools.

With community outreach completed in spring 2025, site fencing began in June 2025 and was completed in August 2025. You can view the presentation for Phase Two fencing here.

Thanks to the thoughtful feedback many community members provided, the DJUSD Facilities Subcommittee has approved the current proposal for campus fencing at Birch Lane, César Chávez and Patwin elementary schools as well as Davis High and Da Vinci High Schools. Your input played a critical role in informing this decision and helped ensure that the plans reflect the needs and priorities of our school community.

At the Board of Education meeting held on Thursday, November 20, the Board approved the proposed fencing plans. You can now view the most current renderings below.
