Boundary Outreach - School Closure and District Redesign

Community Process

feedback cycleThank you to everyone who attended events or shared feedback during the Boundary Community Outreach process in November 2025. During this phase, we presented detailed information and two potential concepts for managing the “worst-case” enrollment scenario. Resident student enrollment has steadily declined for more than a decade due to lower birth rates and the high cost of housing in Davis, and DJUSD may lose an additional 1,000 students over the next 10 years, on top of the 300-student decrease since 2019.

All feedback is currently being reviewed, and staff will prepare a summary and initial analysis to support Board discussions after Winter Break. Additional opportunities for community feedback are expected in 2026 and 2027, with a final Board of Education decision anticipated in spring 2027. Any approved changes would take effect no earlier than the 2028-29 school year. Thank you for your continued engagement and please watch for more updates as this important work continues.
