General Tax Exemption Information


DJUSD is dedicated to offering tax exemptions to eligible homeowners. Find relevant information and links to the applications below.  All tax exemption applications received by Friday, June 19, 2020, were considered on-time.  At this time, we are accepting late applications and will notify late applicants of the status of their request in September. 

Measure G


Measure G is a parcel tax for DJUSD employee compensation approved by District voters on March 3, 2020.    Measure G provides for exemptions for:
  • Senior citizens (65 and older),
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients,
  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients who meet the income qualification, and
  • Eligible DJUSD employees. *

*Eligible DJUSD Employee Exemption for Measure G

The following statement is from the ballot language for Measure G, in regard to Employee Exemptions:

Persons who own and occupy said parcel as his or her principal residence and who, as of July 1 of the tax year for which an exemption is sought, meet both of the conditions described in (i) and (ii) below: 

i. Are District Employees. “District Employees” are persons who meet any of the following categories:

1. Temporary certificated employees of the District, as defined by Education Code sections 44909, 44919, 44920, and 44921.

2. Probationary certificated employees of the District, as defined by Education Code section 44915.

3. Permanent certificated employees of the District, as defined by Education Code sections 44830 and 44929.21.

4. Permanent classified employees of the District, as defined by Education Code sections 45101, 45103, and 45113.

ii. Are guaranteed a half-time or greater assignment with the District for the following school year (“District Employee Exemption”).

The District shall make all determinations regarding an employee’s eligibility for the District Employee Exemption, including whether the employee is guaranteed a half-time or greater assignment with the District.

Measure H Exemptions


Measure H, the current DJUSD parcel tax approved by District voters in 2016, has exemptions for senior citizens (65 and older), Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients and for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients who meet the income qualification.

CFD No. 1 Exemption


Community Facilities District No. 1, approved by District voters in 1989, has a 50% exemption for senior citizens (65 and older).

Measure M (Facility Bond) No Exemptions


In November 2018, Measure M, a bond measure was passed by District voters. There is not a tax exemption available for Measure M; State law does not provide tax exemptions for bond measures.
