North Davis Students Open New MPR
Posted on 09/29/2022
Excitement was in the air as DJUSD celebrated another new multipurpose room (MPR) at North Davis Elementary on Thursday, September 29. Board of Education (BOE) Trustees, District administration and staff and community and family members were in attendance to help commemorate this special day. This event also rallied more students than previous ceremonies which was an opportunity to engage their eager participation. Transitional kindergarten students through third grade were the first group to open the new facility with the traditional ribbon cutting followed by a group of excited fourth through sixth graders.

Board of Education President, Tom Adams, was in attendance and thrilled the audience with news that DJUSD has saved taxpayers close to 80 million dollars throughout the construction process of current Bond projects. Karen Fingerman, a fifth grade North Davis Elementary teacher, also shared her thoughts on this Measure M project sharing “I am honored to be a part of this celebration, the official opening of the multipurpose room at North Davis Elementary. This moment seemed a long time in the making for our students, for our teachers, and for our staff….fences have come down and we have seen in just a few short weeks how this beautiful building promises an exciting future for our NDE learning community. This place is a place of inspiration and imagination, of cooperation and collaboration, a place of friendship and community, of mindfulness and growth and music and celebration.”

The new MPR facility now houses staff and student all-gender restrooms, a music room, warming kitchen and a new stage to showcase performances and assemblies. This new facility is part of the Measure M bond-funded initiative to upgrade school safety and 21st century learning throughout our District. Thank you to our Davis voters, our District and our community for your support of this Bond Project!

DJUSD will continue to provide frequent updates to our community. For more information on this, and other Bond Projects, please visit www.djusd.net/bond.
