About

The DJUSD Graduate Profile defines 21st Century Learning by specifying the outcomes that we, as a community, believe are important for student success in college, career, and beyond. After a seven-month campaign that engaged over a thousand stakeholders, the Board of Education adopted the Graduate Profile at their April 19. 2018 meeting. Moving forward, the Graduate Profile will be an important guide post for reviewing, developing and enhancing school programs and practices as well as district initiatives, facilities and professional development.

Our Six Competencies

Background

DJUSD created a Graduate Profile as part of our efforts to review Board Policy on High School Graduation Requirements. A Graduate Profile is a document that a school or district uses to specify the cognitive, personal, and interpersonal competencies that students should have when they graduate high school in order to be successful in the 21st century. This is a clear visualization of priority goals for teaching and learning that can be easily communicated to students, parents, faculty, and staff to align their collective efforts.

The creation of a Graduate Profile included a yearlong community process to identify the competencies that we believe are important for DJUSD students to learn. We kicked this off with a board study session, where we started to brainstorm some of these valuable skills. Then through a series of community outreach activities combined with LCAP meetings, a diverse group of Davis stakeholders (students, staff, parents, alum, etc.) had the opportunity to contribute ideas towards this Graduate Profile. Our final Graduate Profile consisting of six competencies was ratified by the Board of Education on April 19, 2018.
