Intradistrict and Interdistrict Transfers

Intradistrict Transfers

Intradistrict Transfer refers to current DJUSD students who would like to transfer to another DJUSD school. Priority for Intradistrict Transfers is as follows:

  1. Students who want to transfer to their neighborhood/boundary school.
  2. Siblings of students currently in attendance at the requested school.
  3. Students whose parent/guardian works for DJUSD.
  4. New requests for transfer to a non-boundary school.

2019-2020 Intradistrict Transfer form.

Intradistrict Transfer requests are approved based upon space availability in the requested grade level at the requested school. Parents/Guardians will be notified by mail no later than June 30 prior to the upcoming school year as to whether the transfer is approved or if their student has been placed on a waitlist due to no space availability.

Questions about Intradistrict transfers should be directed to Carrie McCloud in the Instructional Services Department at cmccloud@djusd.net.

Interdistrict Transfers
Interdistrict Transfer refers to students who do not live within DJUSD boundaries but would like to attend a Davis school. Parents/Guardians must start the Interdistrict Transfer Request (IDT) process at the district office in their district of residence. If the district of residence approves the request, the IDT request is sent by the district of residence (or the parent can hand deliver it) to the DJUSD Student Support Services Department.

Questions about Interdistrict transfers should be directed to Erin Grey-Merritt in the Student Services Department at emerritt@djusd.net.

DJUSD will accept Interdistrict Transfer paperwork for the 2019-20 school year beginning March 1, 2019

Availability

New IDT requests are approved by DJUSD based upon space availability. Parents/Guardians must keep their child enrolled in their district of residence until DJUSD approves the transfer request.

Transfer requests will be reviewed May-October on the basis of space availability in the requested grade level. Parents will be notified by mail no later than November 11, 2019, on whether there is space during the 2019-20 school year.

Please note: Grades 7-12 remain impacted and space availability in the 2019-20 school year is unlikely for students not currently enrolled in DJUSD.

Deadline
The deadline to submit a new IDT request for the 2019-20 school year is September 30, 2019. Please note that this deadline does not apply to students currently enrolled in DJUSD. Currently enrolled students who move out of Davis must apply for an Interdistrict Transfer in order to remain enrolled in DJUSD.

Contact
For Davis residents who would like to transfer their child out of Davis to another school district, please contact Erin Grey-Merritt in the Student Support Services Department at emerritt@djusd.net.

The Board of Education recognizes that a key component of successful education is parent engagement, and encourages all families to become involved in district programs and schools. There are many ways to become involved and contribute to the district including, but not limited to, serving on school site councils, PTA, PTO's, donating directly to the school district, or to foundations affiliated with the district. Every parent/guardian of a student who receives an interdistrict transfer agreement will be provided information on the District's mission and goals and informed of the variety of ways to become involved and contribute to the success of District students.
